PROGRAM LEVEL
The Bachelor of Arts in History (128 credit hours) has been designed to provide the student with a strong historical foundation that enables him/her to take advantage of the job opportunities available in the labour market, especially in the field of history sciences and the fields that are related to the international relations. The Program also aims to broaden the boundaries of knowledge and enable the student to explore new approaches of studies in history, in order to be able to judge how the future will be. The Department’s Curriculum has proven successful for the Program over the past ten years, as our graduates joined some of the most influential educational and decision-making institutions. In addition, some of our graduates continue their postgraduate studies at various universities across the world.
The program promotes historical knowledge through a balanced dose of methodology, chronology, and spatial analysis. It also encourages the student’s use of study and research tools alongside skill development. Scientific knowledge is expanded through the integration of theory with practice, and the adoption of modern means of teaching history. The program also allows the student to select a specialization in a particular area, which identifies opportunities for future work or research. It provides students with a strong historical base to capitalize on existing career opportunities in the job market, especially in the fields of history and international relations.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- Promoting national belonging and consolidating the values of citizenship and the Arab and Islamic identity of the students of the University of Bahrain.
- Enabling students to read, understand, and use the historical movement of human societies.
- Providing students with the scientific capabilities to link theory and practice.
- Enabling students to use the tools of historical knowledge objectively and scientifically.
- Enabling students to use the tools of historical research through the criticism, analysis, and interpretation of historical documents and texts.
- Providing students with the methodology of historical research and its origins.
PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
- The student will employ historical events in a manner that achieves a close connection with the homeland, consolidates Arab and Islamic identity, and highlights the cultural impact of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
- The student will interpret contemporary issues in the light of historical occurrences.
- The student will use modern technologies in the field of his specialization to manage information, and give presentations on topics associated with historical studies and supporting sciences.
- The student will analyse historical occurrences and events in a detailed manner, based on critical knowledge of such historical occurrences.
- The student will carry out projects and research individually or in a group, using the most prominent means and methods of scientific research in the fields of historical studies as well as social and human sciences, and the mechanisms of adherence to scientific integrity and objectivity in the study of historical occurrences.
