Assistant Professor of Linguistics

Dr. Haleema Kadhem (Al A’ali) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English language and Literature. She received her Bachelor degree in English language and literature from the University of Bahrain in 2004, her Master degree in TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages) from Murray State University, USA in 2006, and her PhD in Linguistics from Aston University, UK in 2013. She also received her Post Certificate in Academic Practice (PCAP) from the University of Bahrain in 2015. Currently, she heads the Conference and Seminars committee in the department and teaches a number of specialised courses (Sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, Contrastive analysis) alongside other general language and ESP (English for specific purposes) courses. Her areas of expertise are: Sociolinguistics, Language and Gender, Leadership Language, Language in the Workplace, Discourse Analysis, Research Design and Methods, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and Curriculum design. She has a number of publications on leadership and gender in the Middle East.
