Biography


Dr. Amani Alhalwachi is an Assistant Professor of Digital Media and the Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Office at the College of Arts, University of Bahrain. She played a key role in leading the College of Arts to obtain international accreditation with the ""Premier Institution"" status from the UK Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges & Universities (ASIC) in 2022. Additionally, under her leadership in quality assurance, the college was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Quality Assurance Management for Arts Education by the same agency.

She was also selected by the German international accreditation agency AQAS as a member of the expert panel evaluating academic programs in media and digital media. In 2022, she was chosen to represent the University of Bahrain in the ""BQA Ambassadors"" initiative, launched by the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) in Bahrain.

Dr. Alhalwachi holds a PhD in Digital Creativity and Communication Models from the University of Salford, UK (2009), an MA in Interactive Multimedia from Bath Spa University, UK (2004), and a BA in Media and Public Relations, with a minor in Psychology (with Honors), from the University of Bahrain (2002), where she was awarded the Ibn Battuta Award for Excellence in Media for graduating at the top of her class. She also obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PCAP) from York St John University, UK (2011) and is a Fellow of Advance HE (formerly HEA), UK.

She was honored three times by His Royal Highness, the late Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, former Prime Minister of Bahrain, during the National Science Day celebrations at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. She was also selected by the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in the SUSI International Program, a program dedicated to international scholars focusing on American Journalism and Media Institutions, held at Ohio University, USA (2010).

Dr. Alhalwachi has participated in numerous international conferences and exhibitions in the UK and the US and has served on several committees within and beyond the University of Bahrain, including her role as a jury member for the Nasser bin Hamad International Award for Youth Creativity.

She has extensive academic experience in research, teaching, and academic development. Her areas of expertise include digital media, media and communication theories, artificial intelligence in media, interactive media and social networking, media psychology, digital transformation in education, and quality assurance for academic programs and institutions.

Her research interests focus on digital media, media and communication theories, artificial intelligence applications in media, virtual and augmented reality technologies, social media, and interactive media.

Achievements


  • Leading the College of Arts to achieve international accreditation as a ""Premier Institution"" from ASIC for the period 2022-2026.
  • Managing the Quality Assurance Office at the College of Arts, which contributed to the college receiving the Excellence Certificate in the Academic Quality Management System for Arts Education in 2022.

  • Supervised the Media Club at the University of Bahrain from 2015 to 2019, providing academic and professional support to students.
  • Received three honorary awards from His Royal Highness the late Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, former Prime Minister, during the Education Day celebrations at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
