The higher diploma and master program in Arabic language and literature gained the trust of Education and Quality Authority in the academic year of 2017 – 2018. The program, one of the distinctive programs at the university of Bahrain, is equivalent to its counterparts at regional universities that are globally recognized. A group of specialists in the Arabic language and literature graduated from the program; some of them become influential in their academic and regional milieus. The wide range of the courses, encompassing linguistics, literature, and criticism, has contributed rigorously to establishing academically students’ skills. The teaching load is conducted by academicians, from different Arab nationalities, experienced in research, teaching, and supervision.

The higher diploma and master program in Arabic language and literature encompasses courses that are of theoretical nature and application; it enhances the student’s experiences in writing a research report.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  1. Pursuing the contemporary scientific achievement in studying language and literature, classical and modern.
  2. Enhancing scientific cooperation of fields via interdisciplinary and trans-speciality studies.
  3. Encouraging invention in scientific research via conducting theses related to contract-projects that are of national and regional priority.
  4. Consolidating the status of Arabic language as official language of the state and society in Kingdom of Bahrain.
  5. Training students to be qualified and providing them with research skills to meet the society’s needs.

PROGRAM INTENTDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students are expected to:

  1. Apply notions, along with their mutations, to issues in the linguistic, literary, and critical domains.
  2. Analyze creative texts in the light of modern literary and linguistic theories and methods.
  3. Analyze critically linguistic and literary texts in the light of modern literary and linguistic theories and methods.
  4. To apply modern technology to approach the issues of language, literature, and criticism.
  5. Produce research projects in language and literature as well as their interdisciplinary domains using correct methodological procedures and adhering to the values of scientific honesty as well as academic responsibility
