PROGRAM LEVEL
The BA in Tourism is a 4-year program designed for students who wish to study tourism management in detail. Tourism and travel industry is one of the most important and fastest growing industries in the world today and will be one of the three industries to lead the world economy in the twenty-first century alongside communications and information technology industries.
With the steady growth of the industry and the rapid developments taking place day after day, it was necessary for the Department of Mass Communication, Tourism and Arts to keep pace academically with these development in a way that makes learners receive the highest available standard of education and skill, and eligible to occupy the different jobs in the tourism and hotels sector, which is witnessing exponential growth in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- To give students a collection of basic and advanced courses in all areas related to tourism industry. These courses range between economic and technical courses, cultural and civilization courses and administrative and organizational courses.
- To diversify the curriculum, which will give students a broad base of knowledge and skills, and highly qualify them to work in tourism industry, particularly in the areas of tourism travel management, tourist guides, and hotel management?
- To give attention to practice by increasing practical training, and distribute it over a number of practical courses.
- To further expand and broaden students’ horizons through a combination of many local and international courses.
- To raise the spirit of criticism, and scientific thinking for the student, through practical applications, as well as to prepare students for the graduation project.
- To develop students’ skills in foreign languages, which are indispensable to work in the field of tourism.
- To develop communication skills, and methods of dealing with tourists.
PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon graduation, the graduate should be able to:
a) Run and manage the booking systems at the travel, tourism, airlines and hospitality companies.
b) Acquire the necessary skills applied in various administrative departments in tourism and hospitality establishments.
c) Manage and guide the tourist groups in tourist attractions, and work in museums, resorts, and wildlife parks.
d) Use critical thinking skills in analyzing environmental impacts and sustainability issues affecting hospitality and tourism enterprises.
e) Conduct scientific research in the areas of hospitality and tourism, particularly surveys and measuring tourists and visitors’ satisfaction.
f) Employ technology, Internet, and social media, in managing and producing tourism and hospitality experiences.
g) To acquire the knowledge of basic concepts of tourism and hospitality in Arabic, English, and French.
h) Know and apply the working ethics in tourism and hospitality in accordance with the local, regional, and international laws and norms.
i) Communicate in a good manner with tourists and visitors.
